With the latest kernel the nouveau module causes a system crash when
loading X. The screen goes blank and the system doesn't respond to

With nv driver the system works fine. With kernel 2.6.31-14 nouveau

Chris, thanks for the information. After libdrm-nouveau1 update: old
error messages are gone, new ones are:
(EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/nouveau_dri.so failed
(/usr/lib/dri/nouveau_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory)

Actually, since the last driver version things changed a bit, I just
didn't fully realize that. The resolution and the refresh rate are
restored correctly now, but the screen is mispositioned (it shows only
lower part of the desktop). When I switch to VT (alt+F1) and back to X

partially. Looks like no OpenGL support may be affecting flash, but the
overall system slowness is caused by another reason (probably bad

This is a part of the previous log after launching and exiting Wesnoth
in 800x600 fullscreen mode. The desktop has a 1024x768 resolution.
After exiting Wesnoth the actual view area shows only small part of the

Let me explain. After an update X didn't start, so I looked into the
log. The only place which mentions an error in log is this:

I launched 'Battle for Wesnoth' in fullscreen (800x600) and exited it.
My native desktop resolution was 1280x1...@85, it got corrupted after
exit. I launched 'xfce-setting-show' and reverted the corrupted
