Fantu, it's too late now. Freeze block is in place. This will have to
now wait until after NN opens. The indication I had from you was that
only that one commit was needed, so rather than doing a wholesale sync I

That would be nice if it were directly seeded. Unfortunately, this is
due to the unity-greeter dependency, not the seed, so it's not swappable
in Ubuntu Cinnamon.

Agreed, simply checking to see whether or not germinate is installed or
not is a good idea. However, checking which version is installed, as is
currently done with debootstrap, is a bit overkill and I disagree with
the debootstrap version check to begin with.

Instead of crashing hard, I would think it would output a standard error
as opposed to a complete python crash. Something like, "Unable to verify
SSL signature. Try again later" or something of that respect. The
