VLC in OpenGL mode works fine on my laptop, and I just found the reason for the glx[info|gears] issue on this computer (the desktop). Somehow, it decided to use libGL.so.0 from /usr/X11R6/lib, a directory not changed since 2006-11-10, which suggests edgy was the last to use it (this computer

I get the same error (in Hardy). However, I also get that error when I run glxinfo or glxgears, and glxinfo tells me I have no direct rendering even though glxgears is rendering at a speed that wouldn't be possible without direct rendering, the same speed it had before I upgraded to Hardy RC
