What has to be ready? Everything is ready and Brandon's version works
like a charm.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openarena
Please update OpenArena to version 0.8.1. This is a multi-player game
that depends on a current version in order to find any opponents on the
net. Most (Windows) users always upgrade to the latest version after a
new release which makes it hard
I don't know how far Ubuntu/Launchpad/Bazaar integration goes this days,
but maybe Brandon Wrights PPA can be synced directly into the official
Ubuntu repos...

Since this bug is just about removing Snes9express and GSnes9x, I filed

Public bug reported:
In the repos many different old versions of snes9x can be found. There
is currently a new version (1.51) available in a Launchpad PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~bearoso/+archive
It is actively maintained, which cannot be said from the cruft which is
currently in the Ubuntu repos
I forgot to mention, das GSnes9x (GNOME Snes9x) was abandoned upstream
in 2001: http://sourceforge.net/projects/gsnes9x/
Thus it is as ancient as cruft can be (given the state of GNOME at this
time).

My reasons for removing:
GSnes9x --> It is just a GTK frontend for old snes9x versions which is not
needed anymore because Snes9x 1.51 has its own GTK+ UI.
snes9xpress --> This project was abandoned apstream in 2004:

I would rather upload this as a NEW package, since it is a new snes9x
GTK+ port.
I attach the source code. On launchpad builds for x86, amd-64 and lpia
are provided. I don't know if the source builds on other
architechtures...

Yes either a current version of fakenes oder nestopia should be added to
the Ubuntu repositories: Those are the only emulators, that feature a
NTSC filter for an authentic look like on your TV. And emulation is
pretty accurate (exspecially Nestopia)
