This is what I did to solve the problem. I am using Ubuntu 8.10 x64 with Compiz enabled. First, I un-maximized my screen, I noticed that the un- maximized window was beyond the dimensions of the screen and the tool bar (it fit in the screen but just barely), so I hit f11 twice and moved the window
