Hi, sorry guys. I was using GHC 6.10.4 in Jaunty, where there is no
haskeline, so that's the source of my problems. Sorry for not
investigating this thoroughly enough before reporting it as a bug.
Thanks for the quick replies!

Jaunty's version of GHC (6.8.2dfsg1-1ubuntu1) build-depends on
libreadline5-dev, while Karmic's (6.10.4-1ubuntu2) does not. The
changelog states that the readline dependency was replaced with libedit,
but this does not seem to be the case. As a resul
Video playback now works fine for me aswell (in KDE) with the Jaunty
alpha 4 livecd. Of course, I had to enable UXA to work around bug
#304871, and that brings with it its own set of problems, but I guess
that's another story.

Ehm, sorry. Apparantly I didn't have time to test properly. The problem
REMAINS with 2.5.1.
I also tried with the Jaunty alpha 2 livecd, but graphics was completely

I had the same problem as described here. Using xserver-xorg-video-intel
- 2:2.5.1-1ubuntu5~intrepid from https://edge.launchpad.net/~intel-gfx-
testing/+archive as Bryce Harrington recommended to test solved the
problem.
I also tried the older version 2.4.3, but the problem persists there.
