I tried something completely different - a complete reinstall
After purging and deleting everything with *eclipse* in my filesystem, i have
this setup
(Help-Software Setup - Manage Configuration):
Eclipse SDK
- /usr/lib/eclipse
Included feature Eclipse Platform version 3.5.1.R35x_v20090910
!!WORKAROUND!!
editing /usr/lib/eclipse/configuration/org.eclipse.update/platform.xml
and removing all failed entries listed in Help-Software Setup - Manage
Configuration solved the problem

Installation of Plugins via 'Update' impossible due outdated source
For me the following changed:
since this mornings update, the new Plugin-Style help system is released.
Thats why eclipse doesnt find the help directory anymore (its now seperated in
.jar files)
