Since Dapper, esd releases the audio device after 1 idle second. (If
you've changed this, you're on your own.)
Inserting a newer version of realplay with alsa support into dapper-
commercial (not realplayer, which is this package, in multiverse!) would
resolve this issue once and for all.

This still happens with edgy - realplayer is still duff in gnome, but
functioning fine in kde.

I can't reproduce this on a freshly installed dapper. With a running esd
realplay plays fine.

This problem still seems to be present in the latest Dapper: no sound
with realplayer, but after killing esd sound works fine. Is this
supposed to be fixed?
