synchronization within the next 24 hours.
Upstream has set the default document name cropping length to 64
characters. A new configuration option allows adjusting this to another
value of the administrator's choice.

Reporting the bug to Ubuntu's launchpad is definitely the right way to
start off. However, in order to increase the chances that the right
person will look at the bug, we usually report it to upstream as well,
then use the Also affects distribution/package to link to that bug
report. That way both
Upstream is aware of the issue and indeed considers implementing
filename truncation as absurdity prevention against stupidly long
document names. This will be done in due time, in an upcoming release.

There is no config option of which I'm aware. I don't think this is a
wise choice for a configurable parameter, anyway. It should be
classified as 'error-checking'.
No, I've not reported it anywhere but here. How are bugs reported in
Ubuntu 'escalated'? Or are you saying just go to the source
