I have installed Jaunty and the problem is still there. I do not have enough hard space to install Karmic alpha2. Is it possible to test it using live cd? -- [i945] TV out refresh rate is not correct using xrandr and intel 945 chipset https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241389 You received this bug

Bryce, I agree that the refresh rate issue is fixed (not really long ago though, the new driver in Karmic Alpha 2 is the first that's given me usable S-video output at all). -- [i945] TV out refresh rate is not correct using xrandr and intel 945 chipset https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241389 You

2009-06-27 Thread Tapani Tarvainen
Things have indeed improved in Karmic Alpha 2: in the (default) mirror configuration the S-video output works perfectly. Trying to turn mirroring off (which adds Virtual entry in xorg.conf) breaks things, though - no login window appears at all. X does start though, mouse moves, but other than

Tapani, please check recent comments on bug 363783; he seems to be having a similar experience and I wonder if the two of you are having the same bug. Also, you should attach a fresh Xorg.0.log from after reproducing the problem. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status:

Further observations: both VGA and TV1 can be used alone, disabling the other, but together they work only in mirrored mode. The resolutions offered for the VGA output are rather limited: only 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864 and 1360x768 - the monitor's native 1280x1024 is notably

2009-06-27 Thread Tapani Tarvainen
One minor issue resolved: the VGA monitor misdetection was caused by cable (old one with one pin missing): with new cable it comes up 1280x1024 as it should. (It would be nice if there was an easy way to override the monitor autodetection.) The issue with Virtual in xorg.conf persists, though (cf.

One more observation: it's not the mere presence of Virtual in xorg.conf that matters but what the limits there are. Apparently it works just fine as long as the width is 2000 or less and height 1024 or less. Since the default virtual (when there's no Virtual entry in xorg.conf) is also
