Retested in current Karmic:
When the window appeared, compiz didn't crash.
But, when I moved the mouse over its taskbar button, it did then crash like
before.

Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
