Following the advice I read somewhere else on the intertubes, I used the
IP address of my exchange server instead of the hostname when I was
creating my account. Crazily enough, that worked like a charm!!
That's... an embarrassing bug I think. But, give it a shot.

the issue should be sent to bugzilla.gnome.org by somebody having the
bug where the people writting the code will read it, the ubuntu bug
triagers don't have access to exchange servers to work on those issues

Same problem over here,
Version is GNOME evolution 2.26.0, compiled from source yesterday (around
jaunty beta release day)
using apt-get source of all dependencies on an Intrepid 8.10. Should I open a

No such luck here. It's happening for me and I'm using a fresh
.evolution with only repo packages. It happens when I click authenticate
on the account configuration box.

Okay the problem was my own. I had compiled evolution from source (2.26.0) a
few weeks ago and it mostly worked but had a few issues. I compiled evo an most
of the support libs to a non-standard directory (--prefix /opt/gnome2) On a
lark I decided to up my Ubuntu to 9.04 Alpha 5 so I could take
