being fixed with using update-java-alternatives. For future reference
you can manage the status of your own bugs by clicking on the current
status in the yellow line and then choosing a new status in the revealed
drop down
Had this problem. Indeed, Eclipse started up after 15 minutes, with the
info that the gcj java runtime is being used. It continued to be very
slow and crashed with an OutOfMemory exception after a while.
I used update-java-alternatives to switch to java-6-sun (which I had
been using before, no

Indeed, p2 seems to be disabled in the current Eclipse builds. It's not
even possible to use the update manager. This really needs to be fixed.
