Thank you for reporting this issue. I have tried and can not reproduce
it myself. Could you explain in detail how you are attempting to shrink
the bookmarks panel, please? When you say the The tree shrinks
normally. is that the entire window?
Also, please open a terminal and type :
apt-cache
