[Bug 344416] Re: Cannot install version libbrasero-media0_2.26.0 because of nautilus-cd-burner already installed !

2009-03-18 Thread FredBezies
To answer to your questions.

1) I used sudo aptitude update and then sudo aptitude safe-upgrade.
Brasero and libbrasero were not upgraded.

2) I expected an upgrade.

3) I encountered a conflict with nautilus-cd-burner. I removed it, and
then installed using dpkg brasero and libbrasero.

[Bug 344681] [NEW] cone using gamin or ibfam0 ?

But if you've got lighttpd (or any other things that depend on gamin )

Does it work ok with gamin ?

[Bug 342923] Re: Kubuntu Jaunty Intel 945 GM - Poor sluggish graphics performance on HP/Compaq nc6400 laptop

2009-03-18 Thread Musthafa Meeran
I have xserver-xorg-video-intel/jaunty uptodate 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu1
installed today, but still it doesn't seem to fix the slow performance
issues with my Intel 945 GM.

So, I have to re-enable UXA again to make my Kubuntu Jaunty usable.

I just noticed that glxgears with UXA gives around 250 FPS.
If I don't use UXA (i.e using default configuration), I get around 1100 FPS !!
So, I doubt know why there slow performance issues with the default
configuration.

This seems very strange to me, because enabling UXA fixes the slow
performance issues with my desktop effects (like slow window switch,
minimize/maximize effects etc) !!

Thanks a lot...

[Bug 132039] Re: [gutsy] /etc/network/if-up.d/50firestarter exited with return code 2

2009-03-18 Thread miguelquiros
I think I've been hited by this bug, too. Firestarter do not start
automatically on startup the system, supposedly it should starts when eth0 is
brought up. Also when I try
- sudo ifup eth0
or
- sudo ifdown eth0
I can see the return code 2 message and firestarter does not start.
On the other hand, executing directly
- sudo /etc/init.d/firestarter start
starts firestarter without any error.

Googling a little I have found a quite simple workaround that works for me. I
have just reinstalled the firestarter package:
- sudo apt-get install --reinstall firestarter

This supposedly should do nothing at all (install the same version of
the package that is already installed) but the fact is that the problem
vanishes after this.

Perhaps there is some other package, the installation or upgrading of
which somehow breaks firestarter configuration (??) that is restored
reinstalling firestarter.

Good luck!

Status in “kile” source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: kile

In running LaTeX on a job composed of multiple nested files, Kile fails to
trace correctly the name of the file in which the error / warning issued,
and reports the main, including, file name instead.

This bug seems to be the same as:
 http://groups.google.com/group/linux.debian.bugs.dist/browse_thread/thread/00db20884f64da22and
 http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-forwar...@lists.debian.org/msg10493.html
 .

It has been repaired in Kile 2.02 (see http://bugs.kde.org/172286), so the
 fix should be easy.
In the current state, much of Kile's usability is lost, since many
processing jobs consist of multiple files.

 Structure report.

 1. Ubuntu 8.10
 2. Kile 2.01
 3. Expecting: latex error reports with the name of the (included) file in
 which the error occurred.
 4. Instead: latex error reports with the name of the main (including) file,
but with the correct line number

Re: [Bug 242043] Re: [needs-packaging} read-edid-2.0.0 for amd64

On Wed, 2009-03-18 at 06:40 +, Iulian Udrea wrote:

 Reverse Depends:

It looks like xdebconfigurator is not using read-edid by default. It
 just suggests read-edid now.

That's correct, and it detects the presence of the read-edid tools
using:

xdebconfigurator:74:chomp($getedid = `which get-edid`); # read-edid
exists?

I couldn't find any usage of read-edid's executables (get-edid or
parse-edid) in lm-sensors. The only occurrence of the string edid at
all...

pwd

/home/all/SourceCode/lm-sensors-3-3.0.2

grep -rni edid *

debian/control:14:Suggests: sensord, read-edid, i2c-tools
debian/changelog:776: * Suggests: read-edid (closes: bug#265890).
prog/detect/sensors-detect:1212: # for SPD and EDID EEPROMs because some
hardware monitoring chips
prog/detect/sensors-detect:1218: name = EDID EEPROM,

...is in the Debian changelog where it says:

debian/changelog:776: * Suggests: read-edid (closes: bug#265890)

Looking at that Debian bug

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=265890

it seems as if the only reason for the Suggests was because:

...decode-edid.pl is not present in the package...

The output of get-edid | parse-edid is the same as it ever was so
packages relying on the output won't be affected. The only change is a
gain in the availability of the tools on 64-bit installations.

redraw. I have to switch workspaces back and forth to repair it.

[Bug 331564] Re: sometimes notification flickers when fading in

2009-03-18 Thread Mirco Müller
While this is not really directly a bug of notify-osd I kept the filed
bug valid and handed needed fixes for compiz and compiz-fusion-plugins-
main to mvo, who maintains compiz and plugins in the ubuntu repository.
So within a few hours (or days) fixes for compiz and compiz-fusion-
plugins-main will come with the usual updates. The plugins in question
are animation (the open- and close-effects) and fade. Both now have an
extended default match-rule to _not_ touch windows with the title
notify-osd. For the curious among you the match-rule to add looks like
this:

 !(title=notify-osd)

[Bug 344740] [NEW] xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.6.3 : Only green window when playing movies with XV extension

2009-03-18 Thread Stefan Glasenhardt

[Bug 267087] Re: fail2ban configuration ambiguous

2009-03-18 Thread Sybren Stüvel
The dpkg -L fail2ban gives me /etc/fail2ban.conf on Ubuntu 8.04.1.
If a configuration file is shipped with a package but not used by that
package, then it's a bug. fail2ban.jail doesn't exist on my system,
/etc/fail2ban/jail.conf does. It can list all sorts of information, but
that's worthless if it is contradicted by the information in
/etc/fail2ban.conf. Since both are shipped with the same package, it is
impossible for an outsider to decide which information is valid and
which can be discarded.

I don't see how this is *not* a bug.

[Bug 344335] Re: camE ignores jpg-Quality Settings if you use crop

2009-03-18 Thread Trurl
Here are the importan parts of my .camerc:

---
# jpeg quality (you can save as png etc too, but then quality does squat)
quality = 75
input  = 0
...
# image processing
crop = 1
crop_width = 620
crop_height = 350
crop_x = 0
crop_y = 20
---

When crop is set to 1 the quality setting has no effect (than came is
using a high quality, that will make the pictures big) . When crop is
set to 0 the quality setting works. I am using an eee-pc (900a, with
ubuntu 8.10) as server for my webcam (quickcam sphere af).

For example: I use camE for the aquarium webcam on my webpage:
http://www.erdenkriecher.de/fisch , but the pictures are relatively big
in filesize (about 63k). So i wanted to reduce quality, but the quality
setting has no effect, even when I set the quality to 15 the new
pictures looks high quality and were about 63k. When I turned of the
cropping the quality setting works as normal and the jpg-picture were
smaller in size and blocky (as you would estimate with a quality setting
of 15). I have tested this behaviour a few minutes ago again.

So I think there is a bug in camE, so that camE ignores the quality
setting in the .camErc and use a standard quality setting when cropping
is turned on.

[Bug 344660] Re: [Python2.6 transition] python-sigmask can not be installed because it depends on python ( 2.6) and it needs to be adapted and rebuilt

2009-03-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package qmtest - 2.4-5ubuntu1

---
qmtest (2.4-5ubuntu1) jaunty; urgency=low

  [ Fabrice Coutadeur ]
  * debian/rules:
- Include /usr/share/python/python.mk to use py_sitename_sh macro instead
  of site-packages (LP: #344660).
- Moved dh_movefiles inside the loop on python version.
- Fix a lintian warning by changing PWD by CURDIR.

  [ Alessio Treglia ]
  * Add py_setup_install_args macro to setup.py install to build with Python
2.6.
  * Use DH_PYCENTRAL=nomove option, installed modules differ between python
versions.
  * Set XS-Python-Version to all.

[Bug 342890] Re: Cannot play DVDs - Could not open location; you might not have permission to open the file

2009-03-18 Thread JD Francis
The package made no difference to the way DVDs play. One thing I forgot
to mention -- I don't know if it is related. The DVD does not always
fail to play, but instead sometimes plays very slowly, frozen on the
first second when the main feature plays until a Permission denied
error appears. That is what is currently happening. The same thing
will always happen each time I reboot my computer.

@JD,

I have following questions for you.
1. Do you have libdvdcss installed?
2. How did you install the package form my PPA?

The same package works for me. But if I install package from official

2009-03-18 Thread JD Francis
I have libdvdcss2 installed and I installed your package by going to the
PPA page and clicking on the libdvdread4 package for i386. I couldn't
say whether installing the package has an effect because, after this
boot at least, the DVD was playing, albeit ridiculously slowly.

Maybe this will help? I don't know.

Description: bans IPs that cause multiple authentication errors
 Monitors log files (e.g. /var/log/auth.log,
/var/log/apache/access.log) and temporarily or persistently bans
failure-prone addresses by updating existing firewall rules. The
software was completely rewritten at version 0.7.0 and now allows
easy specification of different actions to be taken such as to ban an
IP using iptables or hostsdeny rules, or simply to send a
notification email. Currently, by default, supports ssh/apache/vsftpd
but configuration can be easily extended for monitoring any other ASCII
file. All filters and actions are given in the config files, thus
fail2ban can be adopted to be used with a variety of files and
 firewalls.

part of the package.

2009-03-18 Thread Timo Aaltonen
dpkg -L on hardy doesn't list /etc/fail2ban.conf here. Don't know where
you got it.

The information in fail2ban.conf is not contradicting, the default files
have nothing in common (fail2ban.conf and jail.conf), and surely users
need to read the manual before trying to configure something like
this..

[Bug 344773] [NEW] aMule UPnP support broken

2009-03-18 Thread Pedro Alejandro López-Valencia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amule

aMule 2.2.2 http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Changelog_2.2.2
dropped support for dynamic loading of libupnp and requires that the
library be explicitly linked to the aMule binary for UPnP functionality
to work. Quote from the link mentioned before:

Phoenix: Removed the dlopen() code from UPnP.cpp.

This problem affects all Ubuntu releases and pre-releases to date that
have aMule 2.2.2 and aMule 2.2.3 in Universe. The fix: add libupnp-dev
to BuldRequires and do a fake resync.

Time install pbuilder and a prerelease of aMule 2.2.4 in this Jaunty
box, meh!

[Bug 120018] Re: vim can't open files under curlftpfs directory

2009-03-18 Thread nils
This is still a problem under the latest intrepid, and I'm fairly sure I've
seen the exact same behavior on my Jaunty machine as well.
curlftpfs 0.9.2 libcurl/7.18.2 fuse/2.7

vim fails with E667: Fsync failed (and the data is NOT written to the file)
cp fails with an cp: closing 'filename.txt' input/output error, but the file IS
created and written properly.
kate complains about not being able to save the file as well, but DOES write it

I'm willing to run test cases, let me know what's needed.

I'm not sure, I just used it to test giver by sending a file to myself,
and discovered a bug in giver, so it's not completely without merit :)

Re: [Bug 335512] Re: [i945] intel video card automatically detected on live cd, but not on the installed system

2009-03-18 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
thanks Geir. I found /var/log/installer ... so i'm going to check it,
and tell you if i find something.

There's much less in this directory that it used to be. On a dapper computer:
ls -R
.:
cdebconf hardware-summary lsb-release messages partman status syslog

./cdebconf:
questions.dat templates.dat

On a jaunty system:
ls -R
.:
casper.log initial-status.gz partman syslog version

I think the configuration information in
/var/log/installer/cdebconf/questions.dat would be the intersting
file.

and can you tell me where to find more info about where i can see the
intel driver list compatibility and recomendation for each card? there
are a few drivers that could be working? where can i see the diferences
 betwen them?

I don't know about such a list. See my previous reply.

As I said, I don't think this is a bug in your case. You should ask
general questions in a forum, not in a bug report.

[Bug 331564] Re: sometimes notification flickers when fading in

2009-03-18 Thread Mirco Müller
The fade-in/out animations of the notification-bubbles rendered by
notify-osd are indeed explicitly controlled by notify-osd. This way it
works under compiz and metacity in the same way, is predictable for the
user (from a user-interaction point-of-view) and can be fine-tuned to
match all possible corner-cases (from the designers point-of-view).
Another fact to note is that some people might have the animation-pluing
disabled. What should we do in that case? Relying on external
components, apart from desktop-compositing, is not a good idea. This
would make implementing the notification spec even harder.

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: alarm-clock

I just installed the alarm-clock applet on Jaunty(fully updated) to have it
wake me up in the mornings, but if I open the program, the system freezes. I
can move the cursor and see the applet has launched, but everything is
completely frozen. A hard reboot is necessary to get the system working
 again.
