Were either of you able to find a definitive solution to the problem
you described? I have had the release version 6.2.2 working perfectly
for a month or so on Ubuntu 6.06. Last night, I attempted to upgrade

Does anyone have any idea? Is this something I should file a bug about?
I think it's just an issue in the pipeline. There's no way lame could
know that the incoming source was 48 khz. I suppose I could write a
wrapper script if necessary.

Edit slimserver.pl
Insert a new line right after the line "use warnings;" (line 16) that
says:
use lib qw(/usr/local/slimserver);
That's it! Hope the Slimdevices dev gang can do better QC work for
future releases

With the SlimServer software installed on a LinkStation, does the server
software start automatically when the LinkStation powers up? If not, is
there a script or something that can make it do so?
(It's my first post here, so go easy on me please.)

Hmm... ran into that issue when I installed 6.3.0 on my Linux box - had
no problem on Windows.
I'm running Perl a locally installed perl 5.8.6 in /usr/local/bin.

Welcome. Slimserver will only start at boot time if you include an
appropriate script. The last page of Marc Field's installation guide

try using --d_server and --d_startup on the command line. 6.3.0 works
fine on my system, and the startup shows that "." in included in @INC

Can someone point me to some instructions for installing a stable
slimserver from tarball on (k)ubuntu 6.06?
The nightly 6.5b1 debs install fine, but they are broken more often
than not these days and I would really like to get my slimserver
working once again.
I've unpacked the tarball. When I

apt-get install gcc
You have no C compiler installed on your system.
