Well, OK...
FWIW, I haven't had any problems with the last few FC releases. FC
seems to include a LOT of i386 libraries with the x86_64 distribution.
I run a handful of other non RPM i386 binaries and they "just work".

We don't ship a x86_64 mysqld binary.
Understood, but wouldn't it still be nice if it worked "out of the box"
by finding and running the i386 mysqld binary?
Will that always work? Can you run a x86_64 bit system in 64bit only mode?
I had the same problem. See you log-file.
To solve the problem, i'd to remove .conf file and reinstall slimserver
and configure from start.

I assume this is a problem with how findbin() works with x86_64 arch's.
Something like this is a workaround:
We don't ship a x86_64 mysqld binary.

# ln -s i386-linux/ linux
You can do that, or install mysql via your s

Ok, I think this is my final install problem for 6.5 in Fedora 4.
I have noticed that the player settings such as fixed digital volume

How does this get set?

Thank you Alexandros,

I had a manually installed 6.3.1 on Debian too, together with a startup
script that I downloaded from the Slimdevices Wiki pages. My upgrade to
6.5 went super smoothly and was as follows:
1. stop running slimserver (/etc/init.d/slimserver stop)
2. remove auto-start script (update-rc.d -f slimserv

Hello Alexandros,
how did you manage to run slimserver 6.5 on a Unslung 6.8?
AFAIK mysql on Unslung does not have innodb support. I ran into trouble
trying to install the slimserver on my little device.

That error message is misleading. Instead of suggesting that you should
"run mysqld as root" it should suggest that you "don't run slimserver as
root".
Please note that upcoming version of SlimServer will _not_ run as root at
all. It's been blocked as running as root lead to a lot of calls du
