Dan,
Thnx. This worked.
I had discovered dat cspan has released an new perl Digest::SHA-1
interface (v 2.11). I was planning to install this new version, but
downloading and installing it from your website is even easier, thnx.

I guess I could not make the leap from the errors that I was seeing and
the line about "repeating the step for each missing module." Learn
something new everyday and forget two things.

Please post a bug about the failed emerge of libvorbis on

Hi,
I am running Slimserver 6.3 (I've also tried 6.5.x) on a Linkstation
H160 using Perl 5.8.5. When I browse to any music file (mp3/wma/etc.)
Slimserver crashes and I get the following error message:
"panic: sv_setpvn called with negative strlen at
/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.5/ppc-linux/Encode.p
the note to run build-perl-modules.pl is already there, and part of
what it does by default is to download Digest::SHA1
if there is more detail to add, the wiki does allow anyone to edit and
add that information themselves.

That did the trick.
So I assume that the build-perl-modules.pl forces a rebuild or
downloads an update of the specified modules? good to know.
Anyway that this info can be placed on the
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?MandrivaLinux page?
Thanks a million. I owe you a six pack.

I was using 6.1.x without problem on a Linkstation H160 but now that I'm
trying to upgrade to 6.3.x (or higher)my slimserver.pl stops working
after I navigate to a song and press play. I have set the system to
automatically run slimserver.pl on reboot but after playing a song, the

So whats the answer here? Slimserver has been changed to require innoDB
and Mandriva 2006 does not include a mysql version that has InnoDB??
Whats the fix for mandriva users?

Now what? I have logged in as slimserver and started slimserver.pl and
it runs.
If I try to run it from the services panel it says it started ok, but
it is not running, and there's nothing in the log file. What next? This
