I'm currently running zenwalk 3.0, which is based on slackware. This is
a fresh install of slimserver so there shouldn't be any complications
from upgrading.
Slimserver 6.51 isn't working coorectly, so I'm hoping to install
6.31. Something's going wrong, though.

I get the message saying 6.5.1 is uninstallable and that the package
dependency not satisfiable is libxml-simple-perl

The actual slimserver package is architecture independent. You can
download it from http://debian.slimdevices.com/pool/main/s/slimserver/
and install it on any architecture, using gdebi.
*WARNING:* Do use gdebi rather than dpkg, because dependencies have
changed (even between 6.5.0 and 6.5.1). G

there were similar posts elsewhere on the forum - basically MySQL
enabled many more features which could be useful for the future. For
