Quick update. I managed to get the computer to recognise network
devices using the approach described. Thanks again.
I then tried installing Linux on the box I had intended to use but
firstly the keyboard didn't work at the same time as the mouse was
plugged in, then I realised it only had 64 M
Doh! I'm a thicky, all working great. Love the easyness of the Debian
packages. Can't wait to get my squeezebox 2 working again. The wireless
broke on it. :(
So I bought a acer pundit barebone to use as an MP3 server. Nice.

If you want your SlimServer to be available as a subdirectory of your
main Apache server (for example, as http://www.example.com/slimserver/
instead of http://www.example.com:9000/), you can use Apache's proxying
capabilities.

SlimServer 6.5.0 (note that the "sed" filter was not needed for
SlimServer 6.3.1):
