Have you tried doing it the other way? Mount an XP share on SlimCD/DSL
and copy it that way.
I have my music on a network drive that I'm currently accessing from
SlimCD (via smbmount) without any problem - though I haven't tried any
bulk copying.

I had a working Windows XP Slimserver system - so it was really more for
the fun of it that I have tried to set-up a Linux server instead.
I chose Ubuntu Server (6.10)- installation of Ubuntu and Slimserver all
worked fine, setting up Samba to copy my Apple lossless files and
copying them worked
