I haven't tried MP3tag so I can't comment on that. However, your setup
really begs the question of why you don't us

opinion.
For ripping I use abcde (which uses cdparanoia). Works really well.
I've gotten the ripping, tagging (initial from freedb) and encoding

Type dvdrip at a console
If that works, you can invoke it from kde by (1) using K menu -> run
command, or (2) using alt-f2, or (3) add
Glad to hear it's going well!

Gentoo; the problem was that the file /var/log/slimserver was not
writable by slimserver. Took me a while to track that one down!

start and stop SS with /etc/init.d/slimserver/start and /stop, but it
won't autostart when Linux is rebooted, and it's not reading my music
library. I can scan and play individual albums (Browse | Music Folder)
and can use the S
Sorry about the small text, yes it is missing libraries.
I will try both of your suggestions and let you know how it goes.
Thanks!

Make sure you have installed Sun version of Java, other Java
implementations don't include all the necessary packages that
softsqueeze requires (like the audio package).
