I think I have got slimserver running off the squeezebox now. I had
been using an outdated version of Slimserver provided by synoptic
(6.3.0) and it seemed to update the firmware on the squeezebox
everytime I booted to XP or Linux. I was able to install 6.5 and now it
seems to be working. I

Hi all,
It appears that the FreeBSD ports collection does not overwrite the
types.conf and convert.conf.
A manual update of these fixed the issue.
The server did not understand the filetypes held in the playlists
folder with the older version of types.conf

i had minor issues with java (i think) when updating. Somewhere along
the line i entered
$sudo dpkg --configure -a
this seemed to help again i think.

Welcome to linux! :-) The great thing about it is that even though these
irritating problems do pop up now and again, they're fixable through
research and experimentation, without resorting to brute force
approaches like rebooting or reinstallation. Now that you have it
working, you can expect it

Solved, though the simplest of solutions - make sure the directory
exists first!

Yeah, I've had no problems with SS in 6.04, 6.10 and 7.04. Just one
issue related to IRBlaster trying to write a config file - I can't seem
to get the right permissions on the right directory.
But Perl and Linux go hand-in-hand. You'll notice there are quite a

Feisty Fawn also includes Mplayer!!
Alien bbc still works after installing feisty fawn.

I'm up and running as well. I'm currently using the AMD64 Desktop
version (couldn't get SS to install on the AMD64 Server version for
some unknown reason), but I'm thinking of reimaging with the i386
Desktop version. I haven't found a way to call up a remote Gnome

Glad to hear it! I think Mark is pretty much up and running as well.
I'm looking forward to having a go myself when all my components arrive
(which I ordered yesterday from DABS and KustomPC).

Hi Mark
The path can be defined on the web settings page. Default is the
directory the plugin is installed, but since it is stored in
SlimServer's .pref file it's possible it points to a non existant
location, if you move things around.
Cheers
