Hi website authors for us debian/ubuntu folks.
As my setup is working well I decided to break it by updating to 6.5.2.
I followed the destructions and changed sources file to testing
expecting 6.5.2 (as the page still says main gets 6.5.1) and low and
behold I obtained 6.5.3. ??

I think there is a good chance of getting 6.5.1 to work since you have
optware installed and the kernel and glibc are the correct versions.
I think the initial problem could be using MySQL5.x instead of MySQL
4.0.16 (I think). Try removing 5.0 and installing the 4.0.

Version 6.5.2 is downloaded from the slimserver download page and the
others from the slug site.
I assumed that 6.5.1, on the nslug.org, was a slimserver version
running on the nslu2 since there was no mention of the FSG3.
Well, thanks for the assistance and it looks like I have to go back to

No - where are you getting this info from ?
Has somebody posted the 6.5.2 URL on the NSLU2 website ?
All my Slimservers packages are built for FSG3 only.
Before optware was available for FSG3 - I built the 6.3.1
When Andy used "server" - he meant you put in your server address.
Alternatively click on the hyperlinked word "here" at the end of the
para (Top Left Handside) in Server Setting/Debugging window.

This is what I get when I use the link you posted:

Firefox can't find the server at server.

So, 6.3.1 and 6.5.2are for the NSLU2 and the 6.5.1 for FSG3, is this
correct?

The fsg3 version was built for MySql 4.0.?? (can't remember) - there is
an ipkg for it.
Also it was for kernel 2.4 and glibc 2.2.5 (I think)
Check your versions using the following commands to get kernel version
uname -r
Do the following command to get glibc version
/lib/libc.so.6 | head -1
Just to add on to my original post, I changed the path to my music
folder in slimserver to point to an empty folder, hoping that this
would clear out my database. The strange thing is that even after
clearing my library and rescanning a half dozen times, I'm still
getting about 33 albums (my lib
ooh...I obviously missed that FSG3 connection! Which version is the
FSG3, 6.3.1 or 6.5.1? I'm interested in the 6.5.1 or even 6.5.2.
What Linux have you installed on nslu2 ?
I'm running the basic "Unslung firmware version 6.8". I would like
to migrate to Debian after correcting this situation.

Hi,
I checked the docs (although they all say change something in Server
Settings, then on Additional Server Settings.. there is no addional
server settings as far as i can see.
There is however the plugin folder, where you can flick on xpl (which
is standard turned on)
Whatever i do i dont see
The ipkg you used was built for an fsg3 and not an nslu2. The FSG3 has a
slightly different directory structure than some Linux for nslu2 and
also its own MySQL installed.
What Linux have you installed on nslu2 ?
Have you optware installed ?
What version of MySql have you installed ?
