For MySql, the order is important, I always create the database first.
For that you use
mysqladmin create foodatabase

While I've been using the SC nightly, on my debian box I just added the

I don't know before 6.5.x but since 6.5.x some MP3 podcasts don't play
at all with Softsqueeze yet work fine with the real Squeezebox.

I am also trying to find the best way to add art. at present i am trying
Cowbell.
If you open Cowbell then import any track from an album. If it has tags
then the art appears (hopefully) when you save the art is copied into
the directory from where the album was imported.

Like Ben, I've just tired mp3tag under Wine, and I'm really impressed.
Other things I've tried with Wine have been only a partial success -
probably because they've been too complex or not well behaved.
But mp3tag runs flawless
