I have the same problem, I tried uninstalling and upgrading to
SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0.1 - 18680 but no luck.
Strangely SqueezeCenter will recognise 3 artists (out of several
hundred), these are ones I added after originaly installing slimserver
and upgrading to SquuezeCenter.
My Scanner.log
It would be really nice to have a listing off all the changes and how
they affect us.

That was it. :-) I upgraded to the newer version and it works now
(some problem randomizing songs in a playlist, but that's another
story. Maybe

This is true starting with SC 7.0 and applies to all platforms, not
just Linux.

Was the update marked as a "Partial Upgrade"? If so I had the same
problem and it is related to the problems with AppArmor in 8.04.
Wouldn't have found what was going on but I am testing Hardy (8.04) on
my laptop and was having the same problem with Squeezecenter.
See http://bugs.slimdevices.c
Just upgraded to the above and got this message:
update-rc.d: warning: /etc/init.d/squeezecenter missing LSB style
header
Whatever that means. Everything seems to work ok though ...
Debian Testing + a bit of Sid.

I've been running this system 2-3 months without any change, with
squeezecenter being updated occasionally. (I am using this repository:
deb http://debian.slimdevices.com testing main).
The OS is Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy).
Just a day or two, the server seemed to get uninstalled during updating

I understand! Thank you very much anyway! I'll put it on my laptop. If
you need testing of the SC7 for FSG, just drop me a note. I don't mind
upgrading the FSG to newer firmware if needed!
Have a good week end
