Boot with an Ubuntu CD. There's a neat tool called dd that can do direct byte for byte copies. If the cards are identical in size you can do this: dd if=/dev/DEVICE-OF-ORIGINAL of=/dev/DEVICE-OF-BACKUP You can also make a backup to a file the same way: dd if=/dev/DEVICE-OF-ORIGINAL of=/home/u

you can use a image software like acronis and boot from the rescue cd, make an image (to a location in your network) and you're set. In case of trouble just write back the image. Or write the image to your spare CF card. -- raven22 ---
