so, i'am a little step ahead...
i copied all the missing files to the right location... the perl 5.8.9
instead 5.8.8 then it installs without any errors.
then is try to start squeezeboxserver in /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ with the
starting script ./squeezeboxserver start and get the following error:

For information, i had to edit the new script buildme.sh to operate
without error on my Linux server (Fedora 7 x86_64, Moonshine) and
without root privileges.
The changes are:
- Renaming the INSTALL_BASE variable to PREFIX for orders 'perl

Did a update to 7.4.1 and scanner service stop without any debug
logging.

In your case as in mine the best solution is amahi server. you can read
about it: amahi.org.
fedora based. very easy to implement and a lot of features out of the
box included sqeezebox server. they are working in a ubuntu version but
can take some time.

run's FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE and i hope that the new Version 7.4 can help
to solve some troubles i have with our Squeezeboxes...

Just as an aside it now appears that the chaps at kubuntu have
acknowledged that the latest upgrade has been a bit of a dog's
breakfast.(My words of course!).
Lets hope we have a more pleasant time with the 10.04 upgrade.

Gentoo bug for this (bug#287257).
I've just got it to the stage where it's installing and running - I hope
to have something ready within a few days. Note that although the bug
