Wasn't there a problem with low-bitrate streams on squeezelite reported
in that other thread? Your file isn't 128kbps, but only 56:
Time: 00:02 MPEG1, Layer III[ 56 kb/s @ 44100 Hz - Mono ]

two things occur to me to check
1 did you check the checksum on the download

the generated mp3 file, and the streaming server's header. Can you tell
us what those headers are, and what the final file really is?

on multiple RPi 2 v1.1 and RPi 3s.
Quick question:
Does piCorePlayer 3.02 support the Raspberry Pi 2 v1.2?
Background:
I have downloaded and installed picCorePlayer 3.02 and was successful
getting it to boot on a Raspberry
I'm working to integrate spoken notifications into the Squeezebox
binding (http://docs.openhab.org/addons/bindings/squeezebox/readme.html)
in the openHAB2 home automation platform (http://www.openhab.org/).
I've run into a problem with the piCorePlayer that I'm not seeing with
SqueezePlay, and/or
