For what it is worth, I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 on a x64 box. I just
installed 7.9 by cloning the git tree, and then added my own systemd
startup script. A bigger install, due to having all of the .git stuff,
but I can upgrade by just pulling new updates as I wish.

Current setup:
- ASRock Ion 330, Lubuntu 14.04,
I'm having a similar problem. Upgraded recently to 7.9 on ubuntu64 and
found that the server no longer works and the player can't connect.
Meanwhile I found that if I remove and reinstall the server (doing a
apt-get remove and subsequent dpkg -i to keep the presets and the db )
it all works like
the only things awkward are:

Oh THAT ribbon cable! :) I'm sorry, I can't remember where mine wound up
and my fumbly fingers made it so difficult to get right that I'm scared
to take it apart again.
I have also noticed that the 7.9 installation script does not generate a
new init.d/logitechmediaserver startup script like all the old version
used to do (7.7, 7.8). It does however, update an existing file if one
exists but it does not generate a new one. As a result I'm not quite
sure if the
I don't know how to do that. You you mean using a similar command than
the one in init.d/logitechmediaserver and run it as a console task
without all the extra bits?
Yes, just run the command:
/usr/sbin/logitechmediaserver
in a terminal window (please adjust the path and filename

On Topic - even though my display isnt in a case at this moment, the
layout is the same as the pic that Eyerex posted. Mine's definately an
early version of the display, ordered the day they were announced :) and
it doesnt have dimming of the backlight, just on/off :(
NO ROTATION ever used in pCP
