I just came across with the following:

Could this be a nice option for a portable PiCorePlayer?
Any thoughts?

Hi,
I have been using a Raspberrypi 3 running piCorePlayer 3.2 and HDMI
video out. I recently picked up a 7" display screen and would like to
know if it's possible to use both video outs simultaneously?
Apparently it defaults to the DSI out.
Thanks,
Howard
Can I go home now?

It should work. Lcdproc supports i2c hd44780 LCDs. There is a chance,
that the driver I compiled into the Slimmer bundle excludes i2c support.

Paul,
I noticed that NTFS is much slower on quite a few linux distro's, And it
us noticeable though Samba.
You can compare CPU usage in a 'top' during transfers
I also noted my NTFS USB key to be relative slow on the pi3 I use as
main music server.
I would suggest to use ext2-3-4 on older pi
Is there anyway to use a I2C Display?
I have a 4x20 LCD that I just put a I2C board and a logic level
converter board on to use on a Pi.

I don't run windows 10, so I cannot test. But, I have not heard of
issues.
Can you try a NFTS format on the USB stick.
