ad 64 Mb of maximum installed RAM (it was old!) and it was as a slow as slow could be. I have therefore ended up researching and ordering a new box (a cheap barebones one). So, when I get that I'll have another go!

ad that cifs is what should be used with a modern Windows machine, but I also tried smbfs which also failed. I also know that the LS Pro use ext3, but again no joy. I'm stumped again. -- MIBMIB MI

same problem under Windows XP, but I was able to alter the configuration of the service such that it used the appropriate user and password; then it worked. Unfortunately, I've no idea how to sort out the problem under Ubuntu (or if indeed it is possible to sort it out).
