Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant that the squeezelite command is on one
line. Once you have stopped squeezelite0, you don't have to stop it

Not a problem. I have LMS 7.7.1 and Serviio 0.6.1 running on a VortexBox
Appliance with VortexBox 2.0/Fedora 16. I also have another DLNA server

Are SBS releases fully QA-tested on any Linux platforms? If so, which
ones? Or is full QA testing only done for Windows and Mac OS X?
The Perl problems in SBS 7.5.5 would have been easy to catch if basic
sanity testing were done on Fedora or OpenSuse, but that seems not to
be the case.

What does "mount" tell you about how the drive is mounted?

You may have firewall software on the host that is blocking access to
port 9000. Try turning off all firewall software and see if that
fixes things.

Also post the contents of the mysql-error-log.txt file.

It might be worth trying the version of mysqld that's distributed with
slimserver; this will be faster than re-emerging the Gentoo version.
To do this:
