Thanks for the file, for some reason the ID3v2.4 tag is not being read
properly. The ID3v1 and APE tags are being read but then it fails on
the 2.4 tag, that's why the genre is wrong, along with some other tags.
So it's my bug to fix.

The problem we have is that the Perl 5.12 binaries I am building on my

Unfortunately the build script will need to be updated to support 5.12
as well before you'll be able to automatically build all the modules.
I'll do this in the next day or so, as well as supply some official
5.12-compatible modules for Linux.
Oops, the vendor/CPAN dir is wrong there, all you need it
Class::XSAccessor 1.05, Class::XSAccessor::Array was folded into that
module so it's no longer needed separately.

ALAC works out of the box on all platforms. The only format that is not
supported on Linux is WMA Lossless. This is not a big deal because if
you are using this you are likely a Windows user anyway.

If I had to bet I would say sox resampling would not work on Sheeva,

You may be happy to know that I fixed a few things in Audio::Scan

It would be great if you could work out what needs to be changed in
buildme.sh to support Solaris. I've been meaning to try this out but
haven't got around to it yet. I think the default Perl on OpenSolaris
is 5.8.4 (!) so what Perl did you end up using?
