I have a LMS 7.8 nightly from last December working 99.8% ok. The only thing that currently seems to be broken is the Perl Zlib module, which means that plugin updates cannot be automatically installed. But it was quite a struggle getting it to work this well. The main problem is that the nightly tarball distribution is still missing several i386 .so object libraries for Perl 5.18. I had been running OpenSuse 11 for years, and LMS (and its predecessors) had been working fine forever. I did a clean re-install of OpenSuse 13.1, and it was a DISASTER. Many things broke besides LMS, and it took me weeks to get get most of them fixed. (To this day, yast2 still refuses to work over a VNC session). If anybody has build a full set of the 5.18 Perl modules for i386, I would love to get my hands on them. Maybe I would have been better off upgrading to x86_64, but at this point, I don't know if I want to break everything again... BTW, what's the best Linux distribution for running LMS and stuff like that? OpenSuse seems to be out of fashion these days, and most software I am interested in seems to have been built only for Debian, Ubuntu, etc. Doug ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dougbert's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=54007 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100402 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
