I'm burning some hours on this as well. Mine is a Gentoo SC. Everything works except for this, so far.
Just a thought here. Aren't the "new" m4a files downloaded from iTunes without DRM are supposed to be a different bitrate? I downloaded on test file from iTunes this morning as a test, so I assume it's the higher bitrate.
