LMS is now officially community supported. Logitech provides some
resources to build and hosts new release but it is only one person who
has other responsibilties. Also some of the build system are now
getting a bit unstable.

Didn't say it was Ubuntu's problem. They upgrade, you have to upgrade.
The LMS already ships with huge blobs of precompiled code supporting
many different versions of perl, that's the main reason it's huge in the
first place. One more required (two if people want i386 aswell).
You are welcome to

Perl 5.8 is 15 Years old !?!!
Where did you get lms?
Where did you get perl 5.8?

Well, yeah. Can't prevent Ubuntu from upgrading perl, and you can't ship
LMS with a version of perl embedded that hasn't yet been broadly
released, at least not until it does release anyway.

I upgraded today from a debian build that was 6 months old to the most
recent build (Oct 25th)
LMS fail to start.
The debian package no longer installs on a upto date version of Ubuntu?
It this expected?
There appear to be an expectation that I have to compile perl/CPAN from
source again?
Sure

I've been using the 7.0 beta installed via apt-get from the testing
repo. To get the released 7.0 to install I updated my sources.list to
include stable main rather than testing then used:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install squeezecenter/stable
answered yes to the warning about downgradin

They simply didn't factor in people switching between
unstable/testing/sta
I hit the same issue and just did a force install to get around it.
Not sure if that's ideal or not, but it worked.

Unfortunately, it looks like something will need to be changed to fix
the SqueezeCenter 7.0 release package to make Debian updates work
properly.
My version:

Of course the version in the stable repo is:

Ahh right. That would be it then! For some reason I thought 1.05 was
the latest version, even though I had already downloaded 1.06.
Thanks for the help.

I didn't notice you were using AlienBBC 1.05 - I think this is a bug due
to changes in 6.5. - try AlienBBC 1.06.

I'm running ubuntu and using the 6.5.1 debian slimserver package and
AlienBBC1.05. AlienBBC appears to work fine, except that I don't have
an AlienBBC page on the Server options menu, so I can't customise the
settings.
Does this work for other people, or is it some strange bug?

I was having a problem with the deb package and alienbbc.
When I was enabling RTSP in the server settings 'file types' it was
telling me that [mplayer.sh].
It did exist in /usr/share/slimserver/Bin/
I had changed it to be owned by slimserver and in slimservers group and
to be read,write and
