1st, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't any irda stuff really out there. Which it appears nobody is using these. But there are changes to to the ir ecosystem, in some cases, we no longer need lircd to work with jivelite. Ralphy is the one working on the details here, I'm sure we will sh

I use 'this cheap IR remote' (https://www.pollin.de/p/infrarot-fernbedienung-merlin-620185) with a GPIO connected TSOP4856 IR receiver and a custom LIRC configuration file. The IR remote sends commands with 56 kHz modulation frequency. That's why I'm using a TSOP4856 instead of a TSOP4838.
