I got it installed very easily using an external CD-drive via usb. Overall my fear that vortexbox would be complicated was put to shame. My only difficulties was 1) That the ethernet connection apparently does not work if you use a broken ethernet cable (doh!) 2) The auto-ripper by default rips

Hi, just get 'Ubuntu' (http://www.ubuntu.com/download/server) - i prefer the Server Version. The only thing to know is - always use a LTS (Longterm Support) Version. Be aware that Ubuntu 13 had a newer perl Version thats not supported by LMS - So 12.04 LTS (equal if server or not) its the "best"

I did read a little about that. It seems pretty cool. I like the Auto-ripping thing, I might get an external drive to so I can use that. However, I got that sense that vortexbox quite a lot of work to deal with and get set up right. Would you say that is wrong? I've never personally set one up.
