pablolie: Just so you know, the Seagate allow_restart bug has been fixed
in Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron). Any udev workarounds you might have used
can be safely removed.

i would also recommend going to the Ubuntu forums
http://ubuntuforums.org/ and search for your particular drive. my
Seagate external drive had a built-in incompatibility that would make
it occasionally disappear, but a discussion thread about that
particular drive helped me fix the issue.

Quick update ...problem now solved.
I've mounted the drive through fstab and rescanned library, thanks both

External drives in Ubuntu will likely be mounted at login due to the way
automatic mounting works. Since Squeezecenter starts at boot, you will
either have to restart squeezecenter after the external drive is
mounted on /media, or you will need to setup the mount configuration in
/etc/fstab.
