Ubuntu should work. I use linux mint 18 it to works very well and is
small enough i run that in esxi

LMS can run on piCorePlayer, that is piCore, that is Tiny Core Linux.
Use the OS you want that runs well on your host, LMS should run.
Especially if "ubuntu" matches your definition of a svelte system :)

Thanks, I know this distro and used it on dedicated HW in the past.
With ripping and file renaming/tagging capabiilities (and Samba etc) I
find it a bit fat here.
Anything against Ubuntu with current LMS?
Or does Damn Small Linux (DSL) work with LMS? File storage will be on an
external share anyw
