*Bloomsburg, PA* *Duration: 6-12 months* *Rate: market* ***Telephonic/Skype Interview*** *Experience level: 8-12 years * Performs and is responsible for the development and maintenance of rdbmsplatforms and database objects and with data access control supporting OLTPor analytic software applications on multiple major rdbmsplatforms. Is responsible for database performance monitoring and tuning activities. Works with IT leadership to understand data needs and oversees activities to deliver appropriate solutions. Manages a team of resources and is responsible for ensuring adequate resources are allocated based on project requirements. Champions the application of data architecture and integrity principles as the client IT environment matures its internal capabilities. Ensures the development of processes, tools and training to support the data architecture needs of the organization. Assesses the effectiveness of data architecture activities and facilitates continuous improvement and tracking of results. Responsible for developing, leading and managing a first class data architecture team. *MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*: *1. Assists in a leadership role for database administration activities including creating database's and data objects and managing database access. *2. Assists in evaluating DBA monitoring and productivity tools. *3. Assumes a senior advisory role for complete rdbms platform builds. *4. Reviews and mentors less senior dba's. *5. Performs highly complex data management and systems administration tasks. *6. Develops new data management methods and tools for projects that introduce new technology. *7. Develops data management and access strategies that optimize technical resources. *8. Identifies, documents and tracks all database related performance problems and taking a leadership role in their resolution where appropriate. *9. Assists in evaluating, recommending and implementing tools and methods to automate database administration processes. *10. Analyzes and identifies trends in IT Data Management performance metrics. Designs, monitors and analyzes performance metrics programs for RDBMS performance and tuning and monitoring initiatives. *11. Keeps current with industry best practices and trends in database management practices, tools and techniques. Creates training program to educate others. 12. Works on projects of moderate to high complexity across two or more development environments. Works on multiple systems/rdbms platforms as a project team member. Considered a subject matter expert for a single system/rdbms platform. *SKILLS AND ABILITIES*: Demonstrates working knowledge of more than one major rdbms technology (excluding Access). Demonstrates the ability to provide database production support of critical systems including backup and recovery, database object creation and administration, performance tuning of queries and data structures. Demonstrates strong systems administration skills. Capable of creating and tuning database memory structures. Demonstrates the ability to mentor less senior dba's. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills along with excellent administrative and facilitation skills. Must be able to communicate difficult/sensitive information in a diplomatic and tactful way. Demonstrates strong problem-solver. Participation in at least one full life-cycle Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse or operational project required. Database-related certifications and training preferred, whether vendor-specific or nationally recognized programs such as Oracle OCP, Microsoft MCDBA or Teradata v12 or higher.
