Project Comments



The person will be working as a developer in an Enterprise project using
Guidewire. The person will be using Guidewire studio to write code in GOSU /
Java for configuration work and/or integration development. He/she will be
working in a team of 7-10 people using a SCRUM methodology to deliver
software. As a part of software development, he/she may be writing code to
develop functionality, testing the software and implementing the software.







Required Skills



Guidewire configuration and integration development experience using GOSU
related to Policy center or Billing Center.

Assignment Details



The role primarily interprets architecture and requirements documents
through building designs in UML. The role also works with the development
team to ensure the design and architecture are realized in the code. The
only coding would be to prototype a design. Typical design decisions are how
to use design frameworks and tools (i.e. Spring, STRUTS, Hibernate, Ajax) to
realize the architecture and requirements.







The role includes, creating the UML diagrams (i.e. sequence diagram),
writing sample code to help explain the design to developers and finally
following the design through development via answering development questions
and participating in code reviews where the architect is accountable for
ensuring proper execution of the design, not accountable for java
development and/or coding practices.







Here is a listing of skills I view as critical for a designer. As with
architects, SOA knowledge is important for a designer. Thorough knowledge of
design frameworks (Gang of Four) is essential. Leadership and communication
skills are critical for successfully working with development teams
throughout the development process as designs are implemented and modified.







We are looking for candidates with true architecture experience, i.e. not
lead developer/tech lead experience.



This candidate should have experience with current User Interface design
frameworks. Extensive DHTML and Ajax experience is also helpful.
