*Job Role: Scrum Master*

*Location:* *Minneapolis, MN*

*Duration: 6 Month + Contract to Hire*



Client is looking for a *Sr* *ScrumMaster* to support the *Agile Adoption –
Credit Union effort project*.

*Job Description:*

The Scrum Master leads and influences the Team according to their needs and
to follow Scrum. The Scrum Master has experience with the Scrum framework,
Scrum values, Agile principles and values in the Agile manifesto and
coaches others on the subtleties. He/She partners with the product owner to
ensure the right deliverables are planned.  Ultimately, the Scrum Master
actively embraces that Scrum is practiced inside the Team in order to
maximize product delivery/business value and protects the team from subtle
interruptions and diversions.  He/She proactively helps people outside the
Team understand the kinds of interactions with the Team that are helpful
(and those that are not). The Scrum Master is a champion for Agile adoption
within Thrivent and involved in the external Agile community.

*Required Qualifications:*
-2-­4 years in a lead role on projects, scrum teams, and/or business led
initiatives
-Demonstrated experience leading people
-Demonstrated experience with incremental work delivery
-Understand software development processes and procedures
-Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Product Owner (CPO), Certified
Scrum Developer (CSD), or equivalent Agile certification
-Knowledgeable of common Agile practices, such as test driven development,
pair programming, continuous integration, Kanban, etc.

-Experienced with work tracking systems and Scrum management tools.
Understand how to leverage tools for the benefit of the team.

*Job Responsibilities:*
A. Build and maintain the product roadmap and release plan based on the
priorities set by the Product Owner and input from the Team.

B. Partner with the Product Owner to ensure the product backlog provides
clarity of direction, and maximizes business value.

C. Support the Team to plan work in releases, looking ahead one quarter or
more. Ability to coordinate plans across multiple teams to achieve a
specific set of goals/initiative.  Ability to communicate regarding
consolidated team accomplishments/results.  Coordinate Scrum of Scrum
collaboration.

D. Support the Team to develop a sprint plan several sprints into the
future to facilitate effective coordination with other Scrum teams, project
teams, and/or operational teams.  Consult with the Product Owner to ensure
priorities.

E. Facilitate Scrum team ceremonies, including daily Scrum, Sprint
Planning, Sprint Demos, and Retrospectives. Use techniques that foster a
spirit of listening, empathy, awareness and foresight.

F. Be a Coach for the Team, helping the Team to execute the Scrum
framework.  Act as a coach within a product area, a program or division for
the benefit of your team.

G. Ensure the Team is accountable for the commitments they have made.
Handle advanced people change management (behaviors, mindset) and align
people managers’ expectations with team members’ performance.

H. Foster self-­organization. Enable the Team to make decisions and remove
issues whenever possible. Bring ideas from other experiences to the team
for their consideration.

I. Remove internal and external impediments for the Team that limit their
ability to self-organize such as lack of support or behavior from another
team or a functional manager that draws the team from their focus. Be
proactive.  Partner with other leaders to prevent recurring impediments.

J. Shield the team from outside demands. Negotiate with others, when needed.

K. Help the team monitor progress daily.  Identify opportunities for the
team to improve incrementally.

L. Foster transparency and visibility and radiate information to the rest
of the organization as appropriate. Support team progress reporting.
Partner with stakeholders to ensure valuable Demos.  Advance visual
management for status reporting for the team and departmental cross­team
needs.

M. Request time for those who are external to the team.  The Scrum Master
is accountable to make external requests with sufficient lead time to
properly support the work of their team.  Build partnerships with external
partners to enhance request flow.

N. Understand and encourage technical practices that enable the team to get
to ‘Done’ with high quality within each sprint.
