Candidates need: -Performance Tuning: -Query Optimization (Understand execution plans). -Locking, Deadlocks, Database contention. -Strong TSQL skills : Best Practices -OLTP concepts: -Data Modeling (Conceptual/Logical/Physical Design) -Locking methodology -Experience with large transactional systems (ie. Trading/Order Management). -TroubleShooting: -Position requires candidate provide 3rd Tier production support. -Experience and understanding of Tools like Perfmon, SQL Profiler, PSSDIAG. -SQL Server Wait States, Index Management, Troubleshooting (IO/Networking issues and Query Related issues). -ETL Development: -The Database development team has a large footprint in ETL Development (mainly SSIS). -Understanding SSIS functionality and design concepts around Batch. -This person May be a DBA that is doing both production support and design/development.
