Job Description:

 

Overview:

SQL DBA Job Description - perform migrations of databases and supporting coding 
from SQL 2005 to SQL 2012. Databases and supporting coding will be migrated 
from older SQL 2005 servers to a new SQL2012 environment, both a shared and 
individual instance type of environment as needed by the customer.

Create DB/DB instance migration strategy; Test validate migration strategy 
in lab and non-production environment; Migrating / upgrading the Databases 
from SQL 2005/2000 to SQL 2012 /2008; Remediating Databases, supporting coding 
and update connection strings as needed to produce a functional database on 
the new version; Finding and remediating hard coded server names and IP 
addresses 
in the code and DB files; Assist application teams with testing and remediation 
as needed; Moving from a Old Prod to DEV / Test then to a new Production 
instance; 
User / application tracking to obtain database dependency mapping to servers 
and users; SQL automation and support scripting in the area of migrations and 
remediations; Database backup and restorations; Database backup and restorations

 

Requirements:


* Must have 5 yrs of database structures, theories in a production support 
& operations of SQL Server -2012 & 2008 -, 20012 is a HUGE PLUS  RDBM's 
including: 
{ Configure, implement, Migrate/Merge replication in a Clustered  environment} 



* Understands the concept of replication and CDC.
* Designed and maintained a failover strategy.
* Strong hands on performance tuning.
* Implementing policies and other strategies to maintain database health.
* Experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniques
* Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices


* Should have ability to migrate from SQL Server 2008 and 2012

o    Create DB/DB instance migration strategy

o    Test validate migration strategy in lab and non-production environment

o    Excellent training and coaching skills

o    Experience of lead large implementation team

o    Experience of lead offshore DB migration team Solid understanding of:

·         MCSE Certification a plus

·         Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of the 
organization.

·         Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be strong and effective 
communicator (sales oriented in approach).

·         Good writing skills & ability to multi task in the support of this 
project
