I just keep another folder called PlugIns Disabled and drag problematic ones in
there if I need to. Hearkens back to the old days of Extensions in Classic OS.

Glad that was useful.
Do you know
With the exception of the datagrid helper (I think thats the only one) the
others are part of the distribution. It sounds like the datagrid helper is
installed in livcodes system plugin folder. On windows the plugins folder
is at C:\Program Files (x86)\RunRev\LiveCode Community 8.1\Plugins On
Thanks for the tip, Mark.
If one empties or renames one's Plugins folder in this way, should it empty the
IDE’s Plugins menu, as I still see Data Grid Helper, GoLiveNet, RegExBuilder,
revApplicationOverview, revExample, RevNavigator, revSmartSave, revTabRuler and
SmartProperties. These don’t

When I need to test without third-party plugins I just rename the
Plugins folder to something like Pluginsx, do my testing, and revert to
the original
Thanks Richard & Alan for the response. It looks like a plugin is responsible

Richard - great and comprehensive background information on some of the things
going on in LiveCode 'under the hood'. My primary use of the IDE is to create
utilities and prototypes - so

Thanks for the response Kay. Unfortunately the problem persists in 8.1.0 on OSX
& Windows, but luckily I could rework my project into a stack that would open
on 7.1.4, so it’s not a show-stopper.
There’s nothing special about the stacks that misbehave for me on LiveCode
8.1.0 - right-clicking
It has to be "live" to rhyme with hive.
Because every now and then everything on a card wriggles about and jumps
while you're trying to work.

8 days and no one actually answered your question. Hopefully you've
already figured it out.
No, nothing has changed. It all depends on what events you're using to
trigger scripts. i.e. mouseEnter will trigger a message when ever the
mouse enters the boundary of the object, no matter Pointer or
You have an xTalk fixation? Wow . . . can we start a self-help group?
Livecoders anonymous, perhaps.

After a certain age all we male Livecode programmers can only wish that
Lovecode would run in Edit mode rather more often than it does.

One of my biggest xTalk fixations is that I'm no longer able to type the
word "cart" - it always comes out

You can't stop LoveCode. You just can't.

Hi Keith,
I think LiveCode probably would have been better off to have been named
LoveCode!
That was certainly a big marketing opportunity which was missed by the team. Oh
well…
Just my 2 cents. LOL

Hi folks,
Returning to LiveCode after some months away and am wondering why, in 8.1 (in
Mac & Windows IDE environments) scripts on buttons, etc are still firing when I
switch to (or open a simple stack in) ‘Edit/Pointer’ mode.
IIRC, code only used to run whilst in ‘Run/Browse’ mode. This is
