When you have a field on a card, after you run it the information stored in
the field is held in there while in edit mode. Is there a way to have it
cleared out when you run the program in run script mode?

Try this at the appropriate place in your script:
put empty into fld label1
Depending on how you've organized your app, maybe you could put the
above statement in a closeCard handler of the card containing the
field to be cleared.
Or if you want the field cleared before the card appears
