For anyone delivering stacks with graphics on Windows 98...

I just spent an hour with a client trying to track down a mysterious
disappearing control composed of a couple of images that are hidden and
shown when pressing the spacebar. It seems that this phenomenon occurs only
on Win98/Me/Gold, and only on one certain Compaq configuration. The
solution found was to lock the screen before hiding/showing the images,
which apparently forced the screen to refresh and draw the images correctly.
This problem may be due to the fact that the images are PNG images (I
believe this format wasn't really implemented until after Win98 was
released), or that the video driver on the Compaq system needed to be
updated.

Whatever the reason, locking the screen appeared to work, so if you're
delivering stacks on Windows 98, you might want to file this away for later
reference to possibly save yourself some support headaches.
