Guess what?
I purchased altBrowser months ago. I bought it with the MagicCarpet and
forgot. What an idiot I am sometimes. So now that I understand what it
is that I was seeing and also that htmlText can't handle all these web
features I will look into the altBrowser.
the "garbage" you're seeing is CSS

If I can step in here, I had a look at the Sony page in question, and the
problem is the way the page is written, RR can't cope with it.
The page is in xhtml-transitional not html, and has some usages which will
fail in older browsers, and an RR text field counts as one of those I'm
afraid.

put field "myURL" into myURL
set the HTMLText of field "myBrowser" to URL myUrl
end mouseUp
Where field "myURL" has http://www.sony.com/ in it.
